The Centre for Planetary Science and Exploration (CPSX) Summer Camp 2019

The Centre for Planetary Science and Exploration (CPSX) is again offering our space science- and technology-themed Summer Camp (9-11 yrs) and Summer Academy (12-14 yrs) here at Western. This Space Explorers Program aims to empower children with the basic knowledge and workings of the many branches of space science and exploration. Campers will engage in hands-on learning, daily projects and activities highlighting space-focused issues in the fields of astronomy, biology, geology, geography, and engineering.

Please see below for more information on our summer camps and summer academy.

Summer Camp: We have two distinct themes this year: Journey to the Moon and Journey through the Universe for 9-11 years old. Throughout the week, campers will learn about the Moon, Mars, and many other celestial bodies in our Solar System and beyond! Camp activities will include mapping landing sites, creating and designing space missions, and building functional telescopes. Indoor time may even be spent at the Cronyn Observatory testing their own star finding tools.

• Camp Dates: July 2, 2019 to August 23, 2019

• Cost: $275/week

Summer Academy: Summer Academy is a 1-week summer camp for children ages 12-14. This is a more academic version of the camp with a blended learning experience where the participants will be learning about various topics in space science and technology and will engage in several experiments, hands-on activities, as well as discussions led by CPSX faculty and graduate students.

• Camp Dates: July 22-26, 2019 and August 19-23, 2019

• Cost: $325
