Cronyn Observatory Public Night, Saturday, June 1, 2018

Post by Robert Duff » May 29th, 2019, 12:50 pm

Hello All,

We have a Cronyn Observatory Public Night, Saturday, June 1st, 2018, 8:30—11:00 p.m., as follows:

Cronyn Observatory Summer Public Night
Saturday, June 1st, 2019
Time: 8:30—11:00 p.m.
Presentation: To be announced

For upcoming slide presentation topics, please visit the Hume Cronyn Observatory Web page at: http://www.physics.uwo.ca/outreach/cronyn/index.html

RASC London Centre members are invited to bring their telescopes and set them up on the observation deck (and sometimes on the sidewalk on the south side) of the Cronyn Observatory. Sunset will be 8:57 p.m.

The Moon will be at 2 days prior to new and therefore not visible in the evening sky. Jupiter will be visible rising in the eastern sky by 9:43 p.m. Deep sky objects visible include the double stars Mizar and Alcor in Ursa Major and Algieba in Leo.

Parking is FREE on Saturday evenings in the Alumni / Thompson (beside the Cronyn Observatory and behind Alumni Hall) and Springett Parking Lot (across Western Road).

If it is cloudy we can talk to visitors and demonstrate telescopes in the dome.

Thank you very much to all those who have helped out at the Cronyn Observatory!

I'm ready to come here that night with my scope. Is there anyone who's coming who can drive me till there ?? I'm sorry for asking this. Also I would like to talk to someone about planetary imaging and stacking.

Thanks.

I will be there sans telescope. My hand control paddle is officially dead, with what looks like wiring issues on top of the software crash.

Jan invited me to give the public presentation at the upcoming open house, 2019-06-01. My topic will be "Asteroids: Friend or Foe?" Should be fun. Please come!

Predicted sky conditions tonight look quite poor, I don't think it's worth bringing your scope - only the radio towers will be visible. :-) But who knows, it might clear up...

Haha yeah I decided that server-room-ear-protector one was a bit severe-looking. 8-)
