Hello All,

We have 5 Exploring the Stars events and 2 Public Nights, November 13th--27th, 2017, at the Cronyn Observatory on Western University campus.

RASC London Centre members who are familiar with this program set up amateur telescopes on the observation deck outside the dome.

The Moon will be a waxing crescent Moon, November 20th--27th (with a first quarter Moon on November 26th). Deep-sky objects visible include Albireo, the Ring Nebula (M57), the "Double-Double" star system Epsilon Lyrae, the Andromeda Galaxy (M31) and the Pleiades star cluster (M45).

The events are as follows:

Cronyn Observatory Weekday Public Night
Date / Time: Monday, November 13, 7:00--9:00 p.m.

Exploring the Stars Event
Date / Time: Thursday, November 16, 6:30--8:30 p.m.

Exploring the Stars Event

Exploring the Stars Event

Hi Bob,

I should be there for a couple of events, perhaps on Nov. 13th and the 25th, and maybe the 20th. I will check further.

Hi Bob,

I can go tonight (the 13th), but it's probably cloudy, or worse. Can you tell me if I should come anyway, or if will be cancelled? Thanks.

Mark

Hi Mark,

There has been no email saying that it is cancelled so I would assume its still happening.

Thanks

Hello Mark,

There is no slide presentation on the Monday evening Cronyn Observatory Public Nights and, since it is cloudy, there will be no observing.

There will probably just be tours of the dome for any visitors who show up.

I plan to be there to talk to visitors and perhaps give a telescope talk in the dome.

The Alumni / Thompson Lot costs $1.50 per half-hour and, in any case, is usually full. The gate goes up at 10:00 p.m. and parking is free after that.

There is FREE Parking after 5:00 p.m. in the Ivey Business School Lot across Western Road (west side) and just north of Sarnia Road, if you can find a parking spot. I usually find a parking spot in the Ivey Business School Lot.

You may wish to come to the Cronyn Observatory on a night when it is clear.

Hi Bob,

I will not go tonight, then, but wait until clear skies. Thanks,

Mark

I hear about Tuesday's visit from Andi Sedig from the Pearson School of the Arts. They really enjoyed and got a lot out of the visit. Andi told me to express the group's appreciation to Bob and the crew.
