Kitchener-Waterloo Centre hosting an event in Bayfield

Post by Peter Jedicke » September 3rd, 2018, 10:30 am

There will be a star party near Bayfield the weekend of 2018-09-15. Details are in the attachment here. If you are interested in staying the night at the camp, you need to make arrangements soon. The cost for staying is $25 a night. A $10 deposit is requested and can be sent to Rhett MacKend

Hello all,

Here is an update from Rick Burke of the K-W Observers Group:

Good evening all. O.K. Mike and I just discussed the weekend. Currently, the weather shows Thursday, not so good. Friday, very good. Saturday, maybe a shower late day, then good. Looking long range, the rain date is the same. So, if the weather stays the same, this weekend will be a go. We plan to make the call Wednesday night. If Thursday is still not the best, you let me know if you still want to go and have a social night. I'm game. Charles is not sure yet of his arrival time. So, we may have to entertain ourselves at the Restaurant or Bar or whatever. Have a good evening.

Astrospheric shows Friday as potentially the only clear night, but heck, that's still 4 days away, and will certainly change.
If the weekend is a "go", I might join Roman for Friday night.

Here is the latest message from Rhett Mackend of K-W

Good evening. We are going ahead with this weekend. We have to take what we can get. The prediction for next weekend is not looking good. It may just be a social event. If you choose to pass, I totally understand. Have a great evening.

Does it cost if we just come for a few hours and don't camp?

Three different weather sites with three different forecasts, what else is new. I’ll give it a try and see how the weather holds out. At least it’s an opportunity to socialize with fellow amateur astronomers and maybe learn something new or make new friends.

Thu, 30 May A mix of sun and cloud. Fog patches dissipating in the morning. High 19. UV index 8 or very high.
Night Cloudy with 30 percent chance of showers in the evening and after midnight. Clearing before morning. Low 6.
Fri, 31 May Sunny. High 22.
Night Cloudy with 60 percent chance of showers. Low 12.
Sat, 1 Jun Cloudy with 60 percent chance of showers. High 18.
Night Cloudy periods with 60 percent chance of showers. Low 7.
Sun, 2 Jun Sunny. High 18.
Night Clear. Low 7
