Re: Montessori School Sun Party June 3rd

Nope. I think that all that data entry should best be done by one person, who knows how to do it and so multiple entries for the same event don't occur.

Have at it Bob.

Re: Bayfield Star Party 2015 August 8th

Persistant cloud covered the southern sky, while the sky north of Bayfield was reasonably clear as Dave McCarter and Harold Tutt set up their telescopes. About 21h Dave started his talk "Hubble's Vision, 25 Years of Discovery" to 17 adults. After the talk the skies had mostly cleared, and while we n...

The Conservation area is north of Woodstock, easily reached by going up Hwy 59, Vansittart Ave, from Dundas Street in western Woodstock. T...

Wednesday evening Perseids set a new record for the number of observaers and their cars on the Fingal Pad. There were even people on the pad perifery observing in silence, apparently of the belief that they were not welcome to join the rest of us. I didn't do a "Bob Approved" person count, but estim...

Ilderton Library 2016 May 13

Yes, a Friday the 13th! What could possibly go wrong? Following the success of two years ago, members of London Centre have once again been requested by the Ilderton Library to set up telescopes in Heritage Park, Ilderton, starting about 19:30, and entertain and inform the public. The observing will...

Transit of Mercury May 9th, 2016

A transit of Mercury is much more common than a transit of Venus, and very frequent when compared with the ultimate in rare events, the transit of Mars. The last Mercury Transit was in May 2006, and the next one will be in November 2019, and probably hidden by clouds. After an almost perfect Mercury...

Re: Transit of Mercury May 9th, 2016

It appears there will be at least two public observing events for the transit of Mercury on May 9th, starting just after 7:30 and going until early afternoon. I and several others plan to be at the Masonville Chapters, starting quite early, maybe 7:15. Gad, I'm not even sure the sun is up at that ti...

Re: Transit of Mercury May 9th, 2016

The weather forecast is looking really good for Monday. As in clear most of the day. Some day time heating cloud after noon, but really clear! Really! The transit starts at 7:12 and by then the sun will be about 15 degrees up and clearing a lot of the eastern horizon. Besides, we're amateur astronom...
