The Society has bought SkyNews magazine

News fresh from the Society's Board of Directors. We are now the publishers of SkyNews. The magazine will remain the same for at least three years and members will all continue to receive SkyNews as part of membership for the foreseeable future. This is a huge opportunity for the Society. http://ima...

Re: The Society has bought SkyNews magazine

Hi everyone, thanks for your input on this. I'm not on the Society's Board of D, and not on any Committee that had a role in this. London Centre's Craig L is on the BoD, so maybe we'll get a chance to grill him on this topic when he's back from visiting The Old Country (i.e. Cape Breton). I'm sorry ...

Re: Rona Star Night

Thanks for hosting this event at his home north of London go to Gary H. Even though only a handful of Gary's work colleagues showed up, they seemed to enjoy the views. Gary and Dale Armstrong both set up their vintage 80mm refractors on tripods. Harold T had his portable refractor [see reply below -...

December OG meeting

Hi everyone; I've been super busy this year, hardly able to ever make it out for a meeting. However, for the December OG meeting, I want to do something a bit different. We have a new reception centre, just opened, that we are wanting to show off to people. It is at the back of our parking lot, off ...

Re: November OGM

Indeed, my bad for not hitting the forum. I still find the forum format so inconvenient to use compared to facebook and email that it kind of fell of my radar (as I look at the 231 unread messages); So here's the official invitation as on facebook and went out on email to he university folks: Astron...

Nature in the City Light Pollution Talk in February

Hi All; Posting this in Outreach, although its not an official RASC event, it does tie into our light pollution mandate, and we can hopefully use it for some advocacy locally. I've been asked by Nature London to to a talk on February 2 @ 7pm at Wolf Hall near central library on the Night Sky and the...

Re: Comet Catalina Visible Now

Before dawn today (2015-12-20), I stepped out on my back deck and verified that the east was clear. Bright with light pollution, but there's nothing to be done about that. Instead of staying on the deck where the new streetlights on Sarnia Rd have made conditions worse than in years gone by, I took ...
